Genius Loci: screening new artistic work by Maurits Wouters

As part of his PhD in the Arts trajectory, Maurits Wouters presents new artistic work under the header Genius Loci. Maurits' project focuses on analogue home video: through various artistic creations (film, installation, exhibition), it explores how this became cultural practice and how it has been employed in the imagination of the individual and collective past, while simultaneously looking at how this practice influences our contemporary perception of that past. At the same time, each film is research into the performative power of experimental film, balancing on the borderline between photography, visual arts and film.
